OUR STORY
GEMELA® was established in 2017 by founder Sola Ayodele, and the brand name was initially decided upon as the basis for her Bachelor’s degree graduate capsule collection ‘Andean Harvest’, the first ever capsule produced by the brand.
Moreover, the brand name idea ‘GEMELA’ came about, as the first capsule was strongly influenced by multiple aspects of Peruvian culture, therefore various Spanish words were naturally researched in the process of discovering and deciding. ‘GEMELA’ was the final choice since it translates to mean ‘female twin’ in Spanish, and our founder is in fact a female twin. Furthermore, after final presentation of the graduate collection, the brand took a seven-year hiatus.
On an exciting note, the brand relaunched this year (2024), with Reemergence, an athleisure capsule collection mainly comprised of: tops, bottoms, dresses, accessories, and swimwear. Naturally, further-developed edits of the original potato and basket print patterns (heavily featured throughout the brand's first ever capsule collection), are again notably featured within this one.
